Valley of the Kings

Your first visit on this trip will be to the Valley of the Kings.
The Valley of the Kings, also known as the Valley of the Gates of the Kings, is a valley in Luxor where for almost 500 years, from the 16th to the 11th century BC, rock-cut tombs were excavated for the pharaohs and powerful nobles of the New Kingdom. They chose this valley in an attempt to hide their tombs from thieves; the Valley was their best choice. There are several tombs that are always worth exploring, especially the one of King Tutankhamun which was discovered in 1922 and is considered the most important archaeological discovery of the 20th century.

Hatsheput Temple

Your next visit will be to the Temple of Queen Hatsheput.
Nicknamed the Splendor of Splendors in ancient Egypt, this temple has several distinctive features. Its location at the foot of one of the largest and most impressive mountains of Thebes gives it a special, magical allure. Established more than 3500 years ago, the temple is characterized by its terraced layout, colorful murals, and many statues of Queen Hatsheput as a Pharaoh King. Don’t miss out on exploring the Chapel of Anubis and another dedicated to the famous goddess Hathor.

Colossi of Memnon

Last stop point will  be to the famous Colossi of Memnon. Dating back to the 13th century BC, these two huge statues represent the only remaining items from the gigantic and magnificent mortuary Temple of Amenhotep III. The Greeks called them the Colossi of Memnon as they related the sounds produced by one of the statues to Memnon, their famous hero, whose mother grieved after his death.
